The future of Dunmow Friendship Club

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Friendship Club hasn’t been able to meet since March 2020, and under the new “Rule of 6” regulations, socialising as we used to is not possible.

The trustees have today written to all current members regarding the future of the club.   The letter includes a ballot paper which you should complete and return to Sarah Eley, Chair of Trustees, no later than 30th September 2020.

There are various options open to us, and these are set out in the letter.

Please make sure you cast your vote and return the completed ballot to Sarah in good time, to make sure your wishes are known.

In addition to the ballot, we are seeking nominations for a new Chair of Trustees.   If any existing member would like to stand for election, they can add their name to the  ballot paper in the space provided.

Sarah will continue with the charity, but will be taking over the role of Treasurer and Secretary from Richard, who has decided to stand down after almost three years of serving on the committee.    We would like to take this opportunity to thank Richard for all he has done to support the club in this time, and wish him well for the future.

Charity AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the Dunmow Flitch Friendship Club charity was held on Thursday 3rd October 2019.   At the meeting members voted to:

  • Appoint Sarah Eley as Chairperson for the next twelve months
  • Re-appoint Sue Osborne as Deputy Chairperson for the next twelve months
  • Appoint Richard Corby as Treasurer/Secretary for the next twelve months

A special resolution was passed removing the age restriction on club membership, so that joining is now open to all Uttlesford residents.   This move was taken with the aim of increasing participation and creating a more inclusive group.

Prices for activities were also reviewed and reduced fees will be introduced for the Bingo games and Raffles from November 2019.

We thank everyone who has supported the club over the past year and look forward to welcoming new friends in the year ahead.

Remembering Ann Rolph

It is with great sadness that we advise members that our dear friend Ann Rolph has sadly died after a short illness.

Ann was a popular and active member of the friendship club, and I was very grateful for all the support that Ann gave to me personally coming into the group as a committee member, but also efforts she put into keeping things moving along over the last year.

Ann will be very sadly missed.

Our thoughts are with her loved ones as this difficult time.

Richard
